ARTICLE SUMMARY

Abstract

Agriculture and rural development are increasingly shaped by climate risk, food-price volatility, market integration, infrastructure and changing nutrition needs. This article presents a simulated empirical study of rural transformation readiness. A reproducible synthetic dataset representing 720 illustrative rural adults across low-, moderate- and high-market-access settings was generated using five-point scales. The model assessed farm productivity, market access, climate resilience, rural finance, extension support, healthy-diet access and food-price pressure. Simulated results produced an overall readiness mean of 3.37 (SD = 0.69). Readiness differed across market-access settings, F = 101.41, p < .001, eta-squared = 0.221; High-market-access settings recorded higher readiness (3.77) than Low-market-access settings (2.98). The regression model explained 58.0% of the variance. The results are illustrative rather than population estimates. They support an integrated approach in which resilient production, accessible markets, finance, extension and affordable healthy diets jointly shape food security and rural transformation.
